This is an Ofsted accredited course that is suitable for persons who work or look after children and young people.

This course is aimed at people who are the first aid appointed representative in their workplace or organisation where children and infants are present.  This course covers a variety of areas and will comprise of theory and practical exercises.

There may be an assessment at the end of this course or continuous observation by the trainer and written assessments during the course.

The course will cover the following with a focus on children and infants:

• The role of the Paediatric first aider
• To assess an emergency situation
• Communication and casualty care
• Allergic reaction in children (bites and stings)
• Asthma in children and infants
• Bleeding (minor and severe)
• Bone, muscle and joint injuries
• Burns and scalds
• Convulsions in children and infants
• Choking in children and infants
• Cuts, grazes, bruising and bumps
• Diabetic emergencies
• Fainting
• Head and eye injuries
• Health and safety (first aid) regulations and recording of accidents
• Poisoning
• Resuscitation (Children CPR)
• Seizures in children and infants
